Freda Johnson Cosby, 101, of Hanover passed away Thursday October 4, 2012 at The Waters of Clifty Falls.
She was born on September 6, 1911 in Saluda, IN the daughter of William Henry and Hattie Ann Humes Johnson. Mrs. Cosby was retired from Hanover College and also worked at the former House of Flowers in Madison and the Charlestown Ammunition Plant. She was a graduate of the Chicago School of Nursing and the Powder Puff Mechanic Program at Ivy Tech. She was a member of the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church, Household of Ruth and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughters, Davidteen Cosby Watson and Wanda Cosby Lacy both of Hanover; sons, Herbert Cosby, Indianapolis, Clarence Cosby, Washington, DC, Elmer Cosby, Hanover, Donald Cosby, Indianapolis, David Cosby, Hanover and Carlton Cosby of Deputy, IN; 27 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren and several great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John David Cosby, son Lawrence Johnson, sisters; Cora Johnson and Eleanor Johnson Pearson, brothers; Carl, Elgin and Norval Johnson, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday October 8, 2012 at Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
