Frank Ray Owen, a devoted family man, accomplished entrepreneur, and avid fisherman, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, in Louisville, KY, with his loved ones by his side. Born on September 28, 1952, in Louisville, Frank’s life was marked by determination, intelligence, and a deep love for those closest to him.

Frank attended Charlestown High School and later earned certifications through Miller Electric and Lincoln Electric for welder and generator service and repair. Despite not completing high school, his drive and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Owen's Repair Service Inc., a business he co-owned and operated successfully for 41 years, with his wife, until his retirement in 2022. Serving the Louisville and southern Indiana communities, Frank took great pride in building and sustaining his company through hard work and dedication.

A true man of passions, Frank was a proud member of the Charlestown Anglers Fishing Club and a tournament fisherman for at least 30 years. He delighted in fishing, especially at Patoka Lake, where he cherished time spent on his bass boat enjoying the thrill of speed. Fishing was not just a hobby, but a cherished pastime he loved sharing stories about.

Frank’s personality was marked by a blend of intelligence and straightforwardness, complemented by a generous heart that often extended to others. He was driven and caring, with a no-nonsense approach to life but always willing to engage in conversation, particularly about his beloved fishing adventures. His pride in starting and growing his own business without a traditional educational path was a testament to his resilience and determination.

Beyond his work and hobbies, Frank was a faithful member of Revolution Assembly of God Church and North Charlestown Church of God. He enjoyed simpler pleasures such as watching classic television shows like Gunsmoke, The Golden Girls, and Mama’s Family, as well as movies starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Frank also had a fondness for anything Chevy, classic cars, motorcycles, and dining out at Longhorn Steakhouse.

Frank's greatest pride and joy were his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ina Hodge-Owen; their children, Amy Owen-Kriel, Frank Ray Owen Jr. (Amanda), and Jennifer Nicole Owen; as well as his treasured grandchildren, Gavin Kriel, Gabrielle Owen, Conner Owen, and Grayson Owen. He also leaves behind his sisters Nona (Stephen) Payne, Norma Cash, and Frances (Roger) Goforth, along with numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him fondly.

Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, April Dawn Owen; his mother, Hilda Keith-Skaggs; his father, Gilbert "Buddy" Owen, brothers Gilbert "Jr" Owen, Danny Owen, and David Owen; sister Kathy Owen; his stepfather Charles Skaggs, his mother-in-law, Mary Hodge and brother-in-law Richard Cash.

Among Frank’s most treasured accomplishments were being named Charlestown Angler of the Year in 1991, winning the Harvest Homecoming fishing tournament, and most importantly, watching his children and grandchildren thrive and excel in their lives—an enduring legacy he held close to his heart.

Visitation will be at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM and again on Thursday, June 4 from 11 AM to 2 PM, with his Life Celebration immediately following. Burial will follow in Crace Cemetery.

Frank Ray Owen’s life was one defined by love, hard work, and a passion for both family and fishing. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, warmth, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

The family would like to offer a special note of thanks to Hosparus Health, Norton Brownsboro Hospital and the IR Department of Norton Clark.
