Eva Jo (Hoessle) Puryear

Eva Jo Puryear 80 of Henryville, IN passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on April 4, 1944, in Charlestown, IN to Herman “Pat” and Dorothy (Barton) Hoessle.  She was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Sellersburg, IN.  Eva was a retired teacher and principal having served as principal at St. Michael Catholic School in Charlestown and taught at Parkview Middle School in Jeffersonville, IN.  She enjoyed reading, playing games, and going to the movies and was a lifelong learner.  She was always passionate about her students and impacted many lives.  Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Norman "Bo" Puryear.

Survivors include her daughters, Becky Ritchie (Dwayne) of Louisville, KY, Jennifer Puryear (John King) of St. Petersburg, FL; son, David Puryear (Crystal) of Louisville; twin sister, Dottie Lovins of Sellersburg; brothers, Pat Hoessle of Louisville; and Bill Hoessle of Sellersburg; grandchildren, Courtney, Nicholas and Molly and a great-grandchild Luna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church 2253 W. St. Joe Road Sellersburg, IN 47172 with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN
