Estil Newton Nugent

Estil Newton Nugent, 86 of Charlestown, IN passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Mr. Nugent was born on June 11, 1934 in Summit, KY the son of Benjamin Edward and Julia Mae Spinks Nugent.  He retired from ICI in Charlestown as a Millwright on September 1, 1998. Estil was a member of North Charlestown Church of God, enjoyed playing Euchre, doing puzzles, word searches, working and tinkering on his cars.  In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and served in The United States Air Force.

Survivors include his sons, Michael W. Nugent and his wife Yong of Temecula, CA and John D. Nugent, Sr. and his wife Rhonda of Uniontown, PA;  daughter, Joyce A. Mickel and her husband Dick of Charlestown, IN; sister, Patricia “Patty” Evelyn Hall of Madison, IN;  grandchildren, Margaret A. Torres, Richard A. Nugent, Craig E. Nugent (Tiffany), Kara L. Roberts (Jeff), John D. Nugent II (Jennifer) and Jessica Mickel; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Nugent was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marylyn Sue Nugent, whom he married on September 26,1952; she passed away on February 13, 2020; sisters, Trulia Virginia “Jenny” Stillwell, Lillian Maxine Voris, Frances “Lorene” Ferguson and Eithel Mae Shelton; brothers, William Cecil Nugent, Ernest Elmer Nugent, Billie Leon Bedford Nugent and James Leroy Nugent; grandson, James “Jimmy” Mickel.

Life Celebration Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon on Friday until the time of service.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Nugent may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Due to recent health concerns the family is asking everyone to wear a mask.
