Elmer Blevins, 61, of Lexington, IN passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2012 at his home he shared with his wife Cheri Blevins.

He was born on June 1, 1951 to James and Nola Cox Blevins at Black Mountain Hospital in Kenvir, KY. He graduated from Male High School in 1969 and served in the Army as a nuclear weapons specialist. He retired from the United States Postal Service after serving as Postmaster of New Washington, IN for 30 years.  Elmer was a past member of the Scottsburg, IN Jay C’s, a present member of the Scott County Chamber of Commerce and a lifelong fan of University of Kentucky basketball. He also spent much of his time in the Scott County, IN High Schools working with students with disabilities.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri (Clemons) Blevins; his parents, James and Nola Blevins of Lexington, IN; sons, Michael Blevins (JoAnn) of Seymour, IN, and Jason Blevins (Stephanie) of Austin, IN; daughter, Candi May (John) of New Washington, IN; brother, Larry Blevins (Marcia) of Scottsburg, IN; sister, Lana Cecil (Ralph) of Charlestown, IN; grandchildren, Dale Whitehead, Nathan Wheeler, Samantha Blevins, Abby Blevins, Nicholas Blevins, Sydney Stidham, Eli Stidham, Shelby Stidham, and Joshua Blevins; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington, with burial to follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm to 8pm and after 9am on Wednesday.
