Ellen M. Campbell Johnson, a devoted homemaker and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Indianapolis, IN. Born on February 16, 1957, in Baltimore, MD, Ellen lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and a deep commitment to her family and loved ones.
Ellen was a woman of remarkable character and spirit. Known for her very caring nature, she possessed an open mind and a great sense of humor that lifted the spirits of those around her. Her wit and approachability made her a cherished confidante and friend to many. Ellen’s keen judgment of character and her ability to make others laugh were qualities that defined her personality and endeared her to everyone she met.
Throughout her life, Ellen took immense pride in her role as a homemaker, finding joy and fulfillment in creating a nurturing environment for her family. Her proudest accomplishments were her children, Michael Campbell and Anna Johnson, and she was also a loving stepmother to Donna Watson. Her affection extended to her grandson, Marcelino "Augustine" Sanchez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children who considered her a maternal figure. Ellen was also survived by her brother, Patrick Campbell, she treated each of them with the same love and care she bestowed upon her own family.
Family gatherings and holidays were especially precious moments for Ellen, as she cherished the time spent with loved ones. She had a special talent for making everyone feel included and valued, fostering a strong sense of belonging that left lasting memories for all.
Beyond her devotion to family, Ellen’s love for animals—particularly dogs and cats—was a significant part of her life. Her faithful dog, Buddy, was a constant companion and a source of comfort and joy. Ellen’s hobbies reflected her creative and thoughtful nature; she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and handcrafting beautiful crocheted blankets, hats, and gloves, each stitch a testament to her patience and care.
Ellen was born to Melvin and Mary Campbell of Winter Springs, FL, and she is mourned following the loss of her parents and her brothers, John Campbell and Brian Campbell, all of Winter Springs. Her passing marks the end of a life well-lived, surrounded by family who loved her dearly, sharing their final moments with her as she went peacefully.
Her legacy of love, humor, and open-heartedness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Ellen M. Johnson leaves behind a community immeasurably enriched by her presence, her memory cherished by those who loved her most deeply.
