Mrs. Elizabeth “Charlotte” Mattingly Carter, born June 18, 1929 passed away at her home in Charlestown, IN on June 19, 2014 at 9:30 P.M. She had her family by her side.
Mrs. Carter worked for several years as a private legal Secretary for several lawyers in Jeffersonville and Louisville. She ended her career as the legal Secretary for the late E. P. “Tom” Sawyer. Charlotte enjoyed her trips to their condo in Pompano Beach, FL, loved water skiing on the waters of Crystal Lake and the Florida Sunsets, but Indiana was always where she called home.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mr. Aubrey D. Carter and her daughter, Elizabeth Faye Carter both of Charlestown; cousins, Cathrine Johnson and Myrtle Mattingly. Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her brother Joseph Mattingly; sister Evelyn Gray; and her son Phillip B. Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday July 27, 2014 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Thursday and after 9 am on Friday until the time of service.
