Elbert H. Collins, Jr., 89, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home.
He was born on March 16, 1927 to Elbert and Viva (Wells) Collins in Pennington Gap, VA. He is a Navy Veteran of WWII, a retired employee of Ford Motor Company in Louisville, KY where he worked for over 30 years in quality control, he enjoyed reading westerns, gardening, working crossword puzzles, guns, fishing, hunting, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys B. Collins; brothers, Clarence, Bernard, Bill and Gene.
Survivors include his daughters, Patty Shrebtienko (David) of Sellersburg, IN, and Teresa Wimsatt (Tony) of Charlestown, IN; grandchildren, Trace, Jimmy, Brian and Missi; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Zachary, Alana and Isabel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with entombment in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm, and after 12pm on Friday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Kindred Hospice.
