Edward Lee Barnes Jr, of Parkton, North Carolina, formerly of New Washington, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was a professor of Chemistry at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Formerly, he taught at Ivy Technical Institute in Sellersburg, Indiana. Ed was an Elder at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was also an avid member of the American Radio Relay League, as well as a member of the Cape Fear Amateur Radio Society. Ed was also a Mason and belonged to the New Washington Masonic Lodge F & AM #167. He was born on January 31st, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward Lee Sr and Grace Barnes, née Dunlevy. He attended New Washington Elementary, Middle, and High School and went on to further his education at Rose-Hulman, Indiana University, and the University of Kentucky. Survivors include: his wife Ernestine Barnes, née Jones, stepdaughter Lori Lyninger, and son Edward Lee Barnes III. The service will be held at Grayson’s Funeral Home in New Washington, Indiana on August 1st, 2021 @ 2PM with interment at Barnes Cemetery immediately following.
