Edna Bernice (Sawyer) Williams

Edna Bernice Williams 76 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday April 8, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.

She was born on October 22, 1946, in Whitley County, KY to Charles and Frances Brummett Sawyer.  She was a member of the Living Waters House of Prayer, the Borden Eastern Star, and along with her husband was a former owner of LeRoy’s in Lexington, IN.  Bernice is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jim Sawyer.  She enjoyed painting, cooking, listening to country and gospel music and spending time with her family.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 57 years LeRoy Williams; sons, Anthony Lee Williams (Gayla) of Jeffersonville, IN, Stephen Allen Williams (Susan) of Borden, IN and Charles Sawyer Williams (Carmen) of Borden; grandchildren, Anthony Williams (Allissa), Mallorie Hardin (Bruce), Brenna Henry (Justin), Kennedy Williams (Emily), Wyatt Williams, Jackson Williams and 7 great grandchildren.

Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home, 893 High Street, Charlestown, IN 47111 with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday and after 9:00 am on Thursday.  Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, at Grayson Funeral Home.

After the committal service, all family and friends are invited to gather in the reception hall at Charlestown Independent Church, 9575 Indiana 62, Charlestown, IN 47111 for food and fellowship in Bernice’s honor.
