Earl Cox, Jr., 74 of Charlestown, died Wednesday Nov. 23, 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cox was born on Oct. 23 1937 in Lebanon, KY to Omar and Laura Mae Pendygraft Cox who preceded him in death.
Mr. Cox was a United States Marine veteran and a former police officer and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church in Harrodsburg, KY.
Survivors include his wife the former Deloris Taylor, daughters; Brenda Purcell of Lancaster, KY, Mary Isaacs of Paint Lick, KY and Angie Richards of Stanford, KY, step-sons; Daniel May of Louisville, Kevin and Ronald May and James Farmer all of Charlestown, step-daughters; Rhonda Kern of Otisco, Kennea May and Shetila Stephens both of Charlestown, brothers; Carl Cox of Campbellsville, KY, Bill Cox of Taylorsville, KY and James and Donald Gosnell both of Scottsville, KY, sisters; Margaret King of Franklin, OH, Shirley Hudson of Harrodsburg, KY and Geraldine Cox of Taylorsville, KY, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and 15 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday November 27, 2011 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
