Earl Thomas Copas

Earl Thomas Copas 86, formerly of Charlestown, IN passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his home in New Albany, IN.

He was born on May 11, 1936, in Macon, TN to William and Bessie Jewel Patterson Copas.

Earl was a member of Main Cross Baptist Church in Charlestown and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a former truck driver, a teamster, and a former employee for Airco Welding Supplies for 20 years.   Earl enjoyed NASCAR, Richard Petty, and going to the Daytona 500.  Some of his favorite TV shows were  Bonanza, The Real McCoys, and John Wayne movies.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lee Copas in 2015, daughters, Sandy Clifford and Valerie Brown, and a brother Charles Copas.

Survivors include his children, Robert Copas of Borden, IN, Kevin Copas (Lori) of Wichita, KS; brothers, Odell Copas and Joe Copas both of Tennessee, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 nephews.

Life Celebration Services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Monday.
