Dr. David Berry Waterfill, son of Dan and Ruthann, passed away in his home in Visalia, California on March 9, 2011.
David Waterfill graduated from Madison Consolidated High School, Madison, Indiana in 1972. He attended Butler’s University in Indianapolis, Indiana on a dual athletic and academic scholarship, where he graduated with honors in 1976. He was a member of Butler's track and cross country teams, lettering in both sports for four years. His time for the six mile run is still a University record. David attended the University of Louisville Medical School where he specialized in pediatric medicine and graduated in 1980.
Dr. Waterfill began his practice in Jeffersonville, Indiana and continued there until 1998 when he moved to Visalia, California. He worked for the Keweah Delta Health Care District in Visalia until his retirement in 2010 due to ill health.
Dr. Waterfill was a strong Christian. He helped develop and led several Bible study groups. He actively researched various regions and tribes of people mentioned in the Bible.
Dr. Waterfill is survived by hundreds of kids he lovingly cared for, many of whom knew him as Dr. Dave, and by his parents Dan and Ruthann, his two brothers and sister-in-law, Timothy Waterfill, Mark Waterfill, and Melissa Waterfill, and his nephews and niece, Nicholas, Lucas, Nathaniel, and Abigail.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday March 16
th
from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday March 17
th
from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, Indiana and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Community Church, Bethlehem, Indiana on Thursday March 17
th
at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery.
