Dorothy E. “Dotty” Ross, 86, of Charlestown, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Kentuckiana Medical Center.
She was born on January 24, 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. William S. Voiles on a Decatur County Indiana farm. She was reared by her loving father after the untimely death of her mother in 1936. She met Glenn Ross of Charlestown at Hanover College upon his return from serving in WWII. After graduation, they were married in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1995. Dotty taught music and English in the Greater Clark and Fayette County Indiana schools. She was the choir director for the First United Methodist Church of Charlestown for over fifty years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma International, and a member of the Indiana Retired Teacher Association.
Survivors include her son, Brian Clark Ross of Charlestown, IN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Dr. Paul Cleeter of Plymouth, IN; many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11am at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11am to 8pm, and after 9am on Tuesday.
