Doan Louis Stikes (Dodie), 73, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday February 27, 2016 at Kindred Transitional Care in Sellersburg, IN.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1942 in Louisville, KY to William and Mattie Clark Stikes. Mr. Stikes was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired supervisor for the U.S. Census Bureau and a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Agretta Oglesby Stikes; son, Darren Stikes (Kim) of New Albany, IN; daughter, Kristina Smith of Sellersburg; brothers, Charles Edward Stikes (Laurencia) of St. Louis.MO, William Stikes, Jr., (Norma), Robert Stikes (Ruth), James Stikes (June), Harold Stikes (Linda) and Glen Stikes all of Louisville, KY; sisters, Mary F. Stikes and Arena Taylor both of Louisville; sister-in-law, JoAnn Stikes of Ravenna, OH; grandchildren, Tiera Smith of Charlestown, IN, Ashlee Sangster (Travis), Courtney Smith, Jasmine Smith all of Jeffersonville, IN, Raven, Devon and Alexus Stikes all of New Albany, IN; great grandchildren, Eli and Izayah Edwards of Charlestown, IN, Aaliyah Smith and Jax A Sangster all of Jeffersonville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday March 4, 2016 at St. James United Methodist Church with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday and after 11:30 am on Friday.
