Deward 'Duey' Alan Melton

Deward Alan Melton, 78 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY.

He was born in Charlestown on August 4, 1946, to Dorsey and Jennie Taul Melton.  Deward was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a Unity Missionary Baptist Church member in Charlestown.  He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, wheeling and dealing with people, supporting the Arkansas Razorbacks, singing at Senior Moments, working crossword puzzles, and riding his Harley Motorcycle for over 50 years.

Deward was preceded in death by his parents and, siblings, Dorsey A. Melton, Pricilla M. Palmer Hall, and Victoria M. Keener.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Winnecke Melton; children, Blake Melton and his wife Shannon of Maryville, TN, Asha Richardson of Boxite, AR, and Melodie Dawn Melton of Charlestown; stepdaughter, Kellye M. Gross of Clarksville, IN, sisters, Viviene M. Bussey of Marysville, IN and Velice M. Hoffman Holmes of Callahan, FL, grandchildren, Johnny Richardson, Connor Melton and Savannah Melton.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Charlestown. The visitation will be on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
