Dennis Richard Huggins, Sr. passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. At an early age, Dennis gave his life to Christ and became a devoted member of St. James United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Even as a child, he displayed remarkable creativity, often working with wooden objects shaped by nature’s beauty. Over time, his talent for woodworking grew into a true craft, as he became known for creating one-of-a-kind pieces that reflected both his skill and imagination. He was also an avid automobile enthusiast, a passion clearly reflected in the vehicles he proudly owned and enjoyed.
With a kind and giving heart, yet at times stubborn as a mule, Dennis lived a life defined by hard work, quiet resilience, and deep devotion to his family and friends. An entrepreneur at heart, he remodeled homes and crafted custom pieces for loved ones and clients near and far. He also built a respected career as a machinist in management for Peerless Pump Company in Indianapolis Indiana from which he retired in 2019.
Known for his determination and sense of humor, Dennis faced life with an uplifting spirit as he carried himself with a strength that inspired those around him. Whether through his guidance, his example, or his unwavering presence, he left a lasting impact on the lives of many.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Dennis Richard Huggins, II (Nicole), his three grandchildren, Dennis Richard Huggins III, Nicholas William Huggins and Danielle June Huggins; Four siblings, Victor Huggins (Vickie), Gregory Huggins, Angela Martin (Kem, Sr.), Roy Huggins; Nieces and nephews; Jennifer Huggins, Maria Swanson (Tommy), K.J.Martin, Raysean Huggins (Stephanie McCormick), Rashad Huggins (Chelsea) and Shelbi Adams. Great-nieces and nephews; Layla Walker, Spencer Ann-Elise Swanson, Skai Somyia Monet Hubert and Son’Dre Sir’Charles Donyale Hubert.
As we cherish the memories of our beloved brother, we hold dear the laughter, love and lessons shared. We celebrate a life well lived—a legacy built on love and perseverance toward those he held dear.
Dennis chose cremation with a private committal. He will be remembered for his artistic craftsmanship, his quick wit, and his ability to light up a room with his warm and infectious smile. Dennis Richard Huggins, Sr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
