David Wells, 72 of Charlestown, IN passed away at Baptist Health at Floyd Memorial in New Albany, IN on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
David was born on May 1, 1944 the son of Homer and Opal Wells. He was a self-employed carpenter and considered himself a jack of all trades. David was a member of the Charlestown Church of God, the self-proclaimed coffee club of the Charlestown McDonalds and known for his carvings especially his snake canes. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Viet-Nam War and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his daughters, Tawana Wells of New Albany, IN, Angela Cunningham and her husband Brady of Jeffersonville, IN and Jessie Wells of Louisville, KY; sons, David Wells of Charlestown and Michael Wells of Sellersburg, IN; sisters, Joyce of Indianapolis, Jewell of Clarksville, IN and Penny of Charlestown, IN; brother, Terry of California; grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Michael, Cody and Catherine; great-grandchild, Ava; and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Don.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday until the time of services.
