David Allen Thompson

Thompson, David Allen 75 passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at home with his wife Rita at his side in Clarksville, IN.  He was born and raised in Charlestown and graduated in 1963 from Charlestown High School.  He joined & served the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967.  He is survived by his loving wife Rita Osborne Thompson of 51 years.  He is also survived by his son, Troy Lawson (Mary Ellen) and their beautiful children, Anna Grace, Luke Patrick, Sarah Elizabeth, Emma Leigh, and Lily Blair of Bardstown KY; sister, Phyllis Thompson Knight (Darrell).

He and Rita enjoyed walking the Big Four Bridge and dancing every Saturday night at Caesars Casino. He always had a big smile and bowtie on, he was also known as the Bowtie Guy there.  He had worked at JeffBoat for 10 years and then retired from Carroll’s Mobile Homes after 21 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh T. Thompson Sr; mother, Mary Ruth Thompson Smallwood; brothers, Timothy G Thompson, Hugh T Thompson, Jr. and Lewis A. Thompson.

David’s wishes are to be cremated.  Memorial is pending.  Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown is handling the arrangements.
