David O. Lindenmayer

d. July 28, 2015

One wise man, David O. Lindenmayer, 78 of Marysville, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home.
He was born on June 12, 1937 to Francis and Iola (Christensen) Lindenmayer.  He was an Army Reserve Veteran, member of the Moose Lodge in Sellersburg, IN and a member of the North Charlestown Church of God.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Irene Holder.
He loved fishing, telling stories, singing, & gardening.  He didn't care about fashion, his signature look, was a pair of rustler jeans coated in sawdust and a white t-shirt or button down shirt with snaps until he reinvented his look when they came out with Cargo pants! :)
He was not without faults, and definitely rough around the edges, but he was authentic, honest, strong, brave, caring & extremely gifted. (He even thought he was a comedian at times)He never wanted "things". Why buy anything new when you can fix what's broken or you can make it? He was the only person I knew that could fix anything. His life was not always easy, but he was able to turn his love for woodworking into a successful lifelong career.  He wanted nothing more but to be in his wood-shop. He had a talent that was unmatched and a true gift. Not only was he a Master Craftsman and a superb storyteller, but more importantly a good man, Husband, Father, Papaw, & Hero. Your legacy will live and you will never be forgotten.  We will forever miss and love you.
Survivors include his wife, Shelva Dean Riley Lindenmayer; daughters Daveita Gilbertson, Teri Zych (Jon) of San Diego, CA, and Christina Boice (Craig) of Sellersburg, IN; son Jef Lindenmayer of El Cajon CA; brothers, John Lindenmayer of Louisville, KY, Bob Lindenmayer of Charlestown, IN; sisters, Emma Yount of Jeffersonville, IN, and Mary Garret of Marysville, IN; 24 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Beswick Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Saturday from 4pm-8pm, and after 9am on Sunday.
