David Allen Doss, Sr., a steadfast presence in Charlestown, Indiana, was born on May 27, 1956, and passed away peacefully in his home on April 8, 2026. His life journey, marked by dedication and quiet strength, leaves a legacy cherished deeply by those who knew him.
A proud graduate of Silver Creek High School, David's work ethic was evident early on and carried through to a distinguished career at Pepsi Cola. Beginning in 1978, he served with diligence as both a forklift driver and truck driver until his retirement in 2023. His long tenure with the company reflected not only his commitment but also the respect he earned from colleagues throughout those years.
David found joy in simpler, heartfelt pleasures—target practicing and sharing dinners with his family were among his favorite pastimes. These moments, rich with laughter and connection, spoke volumes about the man he was: devoted, patient, and deeply loving.
Above all else, David’s proudest accomplishments were his boys and grandkids. He was a dedicated father and grandfather whose love and guidance shaped the lives of many. He is survived by his son, David Doss Jr., and daughter-in-law, Susan. His grandchildren, Brandon Doss and his wife Sophie, Breanna Mattingly and her husband Jonathan, great-grandchildren Remi and Riley Doss, and his friend Brad Barrow, along with his many other friends he left behind in his neighborhood.
David also leaves behind his devoted sister Karen Messer and brother Bobby Doss, along with several nieces and nephews who remember him with fondness and respect. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Daniel Doss, his mother Merlin Doss, his father Carl Doss, brother Wayne Doss, his niece Tiffany Doss and sister Patty Biggs.
In honoring David Allen Doss, Sr., we remember a man whose life was a testament to hard work, family bonds, and quiet endurance. His memory will forever remain a guiding light and a source of strength for all fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
