Danny Miller

August 30, 1937 — August 12, 2025

Charlestown

Danny Miller, a beloved member of the Charlestown community, passed away on August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bloomington, Indiana, on August 30, 1937, Danny was a beacon of warmth and dedication, whose stories echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

With an unyielding work ethic, Danny dedicated 40 years of his life to ICI America, retiring after a long, rewarding career. His commitment to his job was matched only by his devotion to his family. A proud veteran, Danny served in the Army from 1954 to 1957, spending time in Germany and wearing his military service as a badge of honor. He often reflected on his time in service with profound respect and pride.

Danny's spirit was deeply intertwined with the great outdoors; he found joy and peace in hunting and fishing, with his children and grandchildren. These activities filled his life with adventure and memories treasured by his family. He also enjoyed racing at the Sportsdrome in the early 70s, and mentoring his family members at the Charlestown Motor Speedway where his laughter flowed freely.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Danny’s heart was the epicenter of his family's universe. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Rita Miller, and their cherished children: David W. Miller, Robert Bruce Miller and his wife Debbie, his daughter Sandy Basham along with her husband Darrell and his brother Ben Miller. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Michelle Converse and her husband Russell, Jackie Snelling and her husband Jeremy, Megan Cunningham and her husband Justin, Brian Miller and his wife Samantha, Gordon Miller and his wife Kristina—as well as three step-grandchildren: Michael, Jason, and Tracy, and ten great-grandchildren, alongside nine step-great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Danny’s unyielding love and wisdom.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Opal Miller, and his siblings: Tom Miller, Bo Miller, Mary Freels, Patty Thompson, and Sue Anderson. He is also remembered by his daughters-in-law, Lucy and Evelyn Miller, whose contributions to the family have left indelible marks on their lives.

In the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him, Danny Miller will be remembered as a loving partner, a great father, and a pillar of strength. His life was a testament of devotion, hard work, and unwavering love—qualities that will continue to inspire those left behind.

A visitation to honor Danny’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. The day will culminate with a burial at Charlestown Cemetery at 3:00 PM, where his journey will be memorialized and celebrated.
