Dana Clapp, of Charlestown, IN, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, in Louisville, KY with family at his bedside. Born on November 5, 1956, in Madison, Indiana, Dana’s warmth, generosity, and steadfast character left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him.

Dana devoted 41 years of his professional life to the Indiana Department of Transportation, where he served with dedication and pride. As a shop manager, he was well respected by colleagues and known for his work ethic, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the job until his well-earned retirement.

His impact extended far beyond his career. Dana was a beloved friend and confidant, maintaining and nurturing friendships that began early in his life and lasted throughout. He was a man who understood the value of loyalty and companionship, investing time and energy into the bonds he created and inspiring others with his steadfast devotion.

In his younger years, Dana was a skilled softball player and later found joy in coaching little league baseball, sharing not only his love for the game but his patience and encouragement with younger generations. He took great pleasure in hunting and golf, enjoying the outdoors and the camaraderie these activities brought. Dana also cherished time spent at the American Legion, where laughter, storytelling, and fellowship were always in abundance.

Above all, Dana took the most pride in his family—especially his grandchildren. Their happiness and growth were among his proudest accomplishments, and he played an active role in their lives with love and enthusiasm.

Dana is survived by his mother, Joann Garrett (Clark); his sons, Matthew Clapp (Kim) and Ryan Clapp (Megan); his cherished grandchildren, Braydin Clapp and Kaylee Clapp; and his sisters, Tracy Morrison and Melanie Bruther. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Eugene Clapp, and his beloved wife, Dorene Marie Clapp, both of whom he deeply loved and never forgot.Dana’s life was characterized by kindness, friendship, and a devotion to those around him. 

His passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt, but his memory lives on in the many lives he touched, the friendships he cherished, and the family he held so dear.
