Curtis Elmo Day, 82 of Charlestown passed away Saturday morning January 19, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
He was born on August 28, 1930 in Dorchester, VA the son of Elbert and Laura Wampler Day. Mr. Day was a retired Coal Miner and a member of the Church of God, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his daughters, Rita F. Manley(Roger), Otisco, IN, JoAnna Combs(Ronnie), Mountain View, Missouri and Rachel D. Reynolds(Bryan), Collierville, TN; sons, Gary W. Day(Lois), Charlestown and Bobby L. Day(Leanna) Otisco, IN; brothers, Charles Day, Whitesburg, KY, Floyd R. Day, Charlestown and Paul F. Day, Texas; sisters, Mildred Ott, Virginia Sizemore and Rachel Pack; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois Day on August 26, 2007; sister, Gertrude Hampton; brothers, Ronald, James, Lee and Carl Day.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Old Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.Expressions of Sympathy in memory of Mr. Day may take the form of donations to Amedisys Hospice.
