Commadore Burden, 72 of Otisco, IN passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.
Commadore was born on March 20, 1949, in Beaver Dam, KY the son of Robert Lee and Eula Mae Beatty Burden who preceded him in death. He was a retired teacher having taught at Prosser Career Education Center, Ivy Tech Community College and Jeffersonville High School in the Building Trades Program. Commadore also had his own home building company formerly known as New Concept Builders for several years. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War as a Ranger with the 75th Airborne Division. Commadore was a member of Charlestown Independent Church, Charlestown VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed many things in life including hunting, fishing, gun shows, classic car shows, auctions and his latest endeavor, taxidermy.
Commadore is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Burden; son Jason A. Burden of Jeffersonville, IN; daughter, Michelle L. Johnson of Charlestown, IN; brother, Robert Lee Burden Jr. and his wife Glenna of Memphis, IN; grandchildren, Devin, Jenna, Jonathan, Cole and Victoria.
Life celebration services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Charlestown Independent Church. Visitation will begin on Monday at 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the church. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Burden may take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
