Charles E. Ryker, 89, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday November 28, 2015 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, IN.
He was born on January 4, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN to Clarence E. and Lucy Morgan Ryker. Charles was a retired employee of Cummins Engine Co., in Columbus, IN, an Army veteran of World War II and a registered Professional Engineer in Indiana and Missouri and a Purdue University Alum.
He was a member of and served in leadership capacities in the First Baptist Church in Charlestown, and the following organizations; Blazing Star Masonic Lodge #226 F & AM, Blazing Bright Chapter #597 Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Post 1427 and American Legion Post 335 all in Charlestown, IN. He was also a member of and served in leadership capacities in the George Rogers Clark Chapter of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers and the National, District 6 and local Louisville Chapter of the Instrument Society of America.
Survivors include step-son, John Holcomb (Tona) of Charlestown, IN; step-daughter, Shirley Braly of Farmington, New Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Thursday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday and after 9 am on Thursday. Masonic services will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday.
Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Youth at First Baptist Church in Charlestown.
