Charles Canby Bottorff, 80 of Jeffersonville and formerly of Charlestown passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at his residence.
Born December 22, 1931 in Charlestown, IN the son of James Park and Harriet Jones Bottorff. Mr. Bottorff was a retired Pharmacist and owner/operator of the former Bottorff Drugs on the square in Charlestown. He was Mayor of Charlestown in the early 1960’s and at that time was the youngest Mayor in the State of Indiana, was a member of the Jeffersonville American Legion, Horse Breeders Association and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his daughter, JoAnne Gelke(Karl), Geneva on the Lake, OH; son, Michael Bottorff(Leslee) Knoxville, TN; brothers, Bruce Bottorff, Charlestown and Robert Bottorff, Jasper, IN; grandchildren, Tracy, Bryan, Brandon, Jenna, Bobbie Lee and Frankie; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kate, Cooper and Oliver. Mr. Bottorff was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou Bottorff, son Robert Park Bottorff M.D. and grandson, Jake Renner.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 P.M. at the Jeffersonville Elks Lodge, 1820 Charlestown-Jeffersonville Pike with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. Expressions of Sympathy in memory of Mr. Bottorff may take the form of donation to Community Foundation of Southern Indiana at 4104 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, IN 47150 for the tornado relief.
