Cecil Ray Roberts

March 26, 1934 — April 17, 2015

Roberts, Cecil Ray, 81 of Clarksville passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at Clark Rehab Hospital after a long illness.

Ray was born in Bethlehem, Indiana on March 26, 1934, the third son of the late Cecil and Sally Pearl Roberts.  He was a graduate of New Washington High School where he played baseball.
He married Wanda June Beach on August 22, 1953 and throughout their 61 years of marriage Ray enjoyed spending time at their second home on the Ohio River in Bethlehem, boating and water skiing, antiquing, traveling, wood working, decorating for the holidays and spending time with their many special friends and extended family.

Ray retired from Porter Paint Company in 1993 after 40 years of service.  He was also a founding board member of Historic Bethlehem, an organization created to restore and preserve the Bethlehem School building where he attended grade school.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Frances Elder and brothers Delbert “Deb” Roberts and Kenneth “Monk” Roberts.

He is survived by his wife Wanda and daughter Diane (Jim) Everse, of Anchorage, KY, siblings Glen (Dot) Roberts and Ruth Ann (Quentin) Allen, sisters-in-law Jane and Dottie Roberts and many nieces and nephews including his “sidekick” Perry Roberts.  He is also known as Papaw to Amy, Kory, Justin, Jenna, Parker and Kory Lee.

The family wants to thank everyone that visited Ray during his illness.  And, a very special thank you is extended to the entire staff of Clark Rehab Hospital in Clarksville, especially his nursing assistant Silas, for the exceptional care and support given to Ray during the past year.

Visitation will be Monday, April 20 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown.  The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Grayson’s with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington.
