Carolyn Marie Lehman, passed away on July 7, 2026, in Charlestown, IN. at the age of 75. Born on November 5, 1950, in New Albany, IN. Carolyn lived a life marked by warmth, resilience, and deep devotion to her family.
Carolyn’s roots were firmly planted in the values instilled by her parents, the late Loren Frakes Sr. and Amy Bottles Frakes. She grew up surrounded by a loving family, cherishing close bonds with her siblings. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Loren Frakes, Jr., Alan Frakes, and Robert Frakes, as well as her beloved sister, Jeniece Frakes. The memory of those who went before her remained a source of inspiration and strength throughout her life.
As a caring mother, Carolyn leaves behind two daughters, Amy Washington (Angelo), and Tracy Shampo, who will forever cherish her love, guidance, and support. Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her immense pride and joy. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Tiffany Lehman, Stephanie Bary, Hope Shampo, and Rien Washington. Carolyn’s legacy further extends to her great-grandchildren, Amaya Haywood, Jariah Haywood, Ava Haywood, Ecya Curtis, Gage Haywood, Tyler Givans, Isla Givans, and Carter Washington, and her loving brother, Douglas Frakes.
Carolyn enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles in her youth, and chose some slower paced hobbies such as, needle point and adult coloring books to pass the time lately. One thing she still enjoyed was watching the bull riders at the rodeos on television. She spent summers volunteering at the Boy Scout camp, and was a member of the Sellersburg VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
A memorial visitation to honor Carolyn’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, located at 893 High Street, Charlestown, IN 47111.
