Carlton L. Hayes

Carlton L. Hayes, 77 of Otisco, IN passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Carlton was born on November 6, 1940 in Sunfish, KY the son of Claude and Lois M. Durbin Hayes. Carlton retired after 43 years of service with Fischer Packing Company in Louisville, KY. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, IN and American Rabbit Breeders Association. Carlton enjoyed fishing, playing board games and cards, making Rosary’s and to the many children at church was known as the candy man.

Survivors include his wife, Joan J. Carlton; sons, Michael E. Hayes(Jeanette) and Steven F. Hayes both of Louisville, KY; daughter, Shannon M. Stevens(Gerald) of Louisville, KY; brothers, Harold Hayes of Florida and Thomas Hayes of Hamburg, IN; seven grandchildren, Bruce, Shawn, Alyssa, Seth, Amanda, Carlton and Christina;  fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Shirley Durbin and brother, Joe Hayes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with burial in St. Michaels Cemetery in Charlestown, IN. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Church from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Hayes may take the form of donation to the American Heart Association or Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church 1840 E. 8th St. Jeffersonville, IN.  Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown is handling the arrangements.
