Carl “Ed” LaVon (68, of Jeffersonville, IN) passed away in his sleep, on Saturday, January 9, 2021 in New Albany, IN.
Ed was born on August 25, 1952 in Washington, DC.
After many years, he returned home from the national trucking industry; most recently, he retired from collegiate instruction. He was a tried and true 1%er Iron Horseman and long time sponsor of Narcotics Anonymous... He was also an avid hunter, and private pilot (whom housed his plane at Clark County Airport.) He enjoyed drag racing, Civil War & WWII History, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles above all else... Ed was even once a professional wrestler under the name of "Crusher Davidson," but more importantly, and more deeply, he was also known as an educated philosopher and traveler.
Ed is survived by his loving children: Mike, Eddie, Jackie, Samantha, and Opal-Lynn; his dear siblings: Linda Fugit, Mike LaVon, and Debbie Crone; many deeply loved grandchildren: Tabitha, Aidan, Bailey, Carisma, Eyan, and Sadie; his great-grandchildren included: Phoenix and River. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Madeline “Madge” Yates, his father, Bill Yates; & two sisters, Shirley Yates and Shari LaVon-Huffman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday January 17, 2021 from 11AM through 3:00 PM, with service and dinner immediately following. Services by Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown.
