Calvin X. Smith

Calvin X. Smith, 85, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born on February 8, 1926 to William Everett and Ethel Grigsby Smith in Springfield, KY. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He is a retired pipe fitter for the Naval Ordnance and a farmer. He is a member of the North Charlestown Church of God. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Hedger Smith; sisters; Sandy Scott, Veneta Burns, and Victoria Smith.

Survivors include his wife; Elizabeth Badger Smith; son; Paul Smith (Diane) of Marysville, IN; daughter; Donna Mullins (John) of Charlestown, IN; brothers; Eugene Smith of Campbellsville, KY, Marnie Smith of Cox Creek, KY, Glen Smith of Lancaster, KY, Finace Smith of Georgetown, IN, Nathaniel Smith of Charlestown, IN, and Kenny Smith of Charlestown, IN; sisters; Gladys Coulter of Bloomfield, KY, Becky Bennett of Harrodsburg, KY, Olena Brickner of Somerset, KY, Alma Brown of Charlestown, IN, and Lottie McComb of Charlestown, IN; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11am at the Grayson Funeral Home, with burial in the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2pm to 8pm, and after 9am on Saturday. Military services will be provided by the American Legion Post 335 and VFW Post 1427.
