Brody Mann Curtis

May 24, 2011 — November 6, 2020

Charlestown, IN

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved home-town hero, Brody.  Brody Mann Curtis, 9, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, after a brave and courageous 9-year battle with Epidermolysis Bullosa.  He was born on May 24, 2011, in New Albany, IN, to Chuck Curtis and Heather Hogg Curtis.  Brody attended New Washington, Pleasant Ridge, and Jonathan Jennings Elementary Schools.

Brody loved everything Paw Patrol, playing on his iPad, watching Super Why! and SpongeBob SquarePants. He loved to listen to music and sing, and he found much comfort in his beloved blankie. His favorite people were his mom, sister, and nana.

Brody is survived by his mother Heather Hogg Curtis of Charlestown, IN; his father Chuck Curtis of Jeffersonville, IN; his sister Makenna Curtis of Charlestown, IN; his brother Cory Curtis (Haley) of Clarksville, IN; his ‘Nana’ Joyce Hogg of Charlestown, IN; his ‘Papa’ Chester Hogg of Charlestown, IN; his ‘Memaw’ Randi Cowan (Gary) of Olney, IL; his Grandpa Charles Curtis (JJ) of Richmond, TX; his Great Aunt Glenda Flynn of Charlestown, IN; his Uncle Chris Wehner of Charlestown, IN; his Uncle Brian Curtis (Diane) of Louisville, KY; his Uncle Frank Curtis of Richmond, TX; his Aunt Susie Curtis of Richmond, TX; his nephew Finn Curtis of Clarksville, IN; several cousins; several home nurses; many doctors and nurses at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital; and his kitties Midnight, Baby Kitty, and Cali.

Brody faced Epidermolysis with resilience and fortitude and inspired all who came to know his story. During his life-long fight, Brody helped spread awareness for the condition across the globe. People from all over have been touched by Brody’s perseverance, infectious laugh, and his big blue eyes. Brody and his mother have championed the cause of EB through various fundraisers that brought people together not just throughout the Southern Indiana area, but all over the world, in support of Brody and the fight against EB.
