Bret Michael Stubblefield, a beloved artist and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 in Charlestown, Indiana. Born on September 7, 1959. Bret lived a life marked by creativity, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Bret had a unique spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Known for being the life of the party and a natural jokester, his favorite saying "look into my eye!' captured his straightforward and genuine approach to life. He was free-spirited and embraced every opportunity to forge new friendships, never meeting a stranger. This warmth and humor made him well liked by many.
Throughout his life, Bret found joy in his artistic pursuits, expressing himself through painting, drawing, and intricate carvings. His passion extended into his career, where he was particularly passionate about creating and hanging custom signs for stores-a testament to his talent and dedication.
Bret's memories were rich with moments shared around campfires, Fourth of July celebrations, and the laughter-filled times spent with his nieces, nephews, and cousins as they grew up. A family-oriented man, he treasured every gathering and held close the bond that connected them all. One of his most meaningful experiences was traveling with his brother and sister to Mexico and California to spread their mother's ashes, a journey filled with love and remembrance.
His middle school days included a humorous chapter-earning the nickname "Pig Boy" after an unforgettable incident involving forgetting to feed the pigs and a mother pig followed him to school. This story is just one example of the lighthearted moment that highlighted Bret's unique personality. He also was affectionately nicknamed "Bob" by his nieces and nephews.
Bret is survived by his loving daughter, Brianna Paige Stubblefield; his caring brothers, Shawn (Rebecca) and Eric Trent Stubblefield (who has 5 children and 16 grandchildren); and his sister, Bridget Anson. He also leaves behind dear nieces and nephews, Brent Stubblefield, Nathan Stubblefield, Janiece Blackburn, Derek Stubblefield, Ashley Simms, Sarah Anson, Ashley Vatsula and Phillip Deal; great nieces and nephews, Mackenzie Stubblefield, Lucas Stubblefield, Frankie Blackburn, Nolan Blackburn, Emily Simms, Kaylin Bowman, Hannah Vatsula, Anthony Vatsula and Kimberely Deal. His loving cousins from California, Norma DePuccie, Cherrie Wheeler and many others. All of whom carry forward his legacy of spirit and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Michael Stubblefield and Vaughn Emily Stubblefield, who undoubtedly shaped the remarkable man he became. He was also preceded by a brother Richard Michael Stubblefield.
