Brenda Sue Derr Evans, 75 of Hanover, IN passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Thornton Terrace in Hanover. She was born on November 3, 1947, in Dayton, OH to Harry Lincoln Derr and Mary Alice Hammons. Brenda held a master of library science from The University of Illinois, and she was the children’s librarian at the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library for thirty years. She loved organizing events for children of the county, including story hours, themed book parties, and summer reading programs. She was a storyteller who captivated children through her energy, use of the felt board, and visits to classrooms. Brenda was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church for more than forty years. Brenda is survived by her loving children, Scott (Mary Nartic-Evans) of Lawrenceburg, IN, Michael (Steven Fischer) of San Francisco, CA, and Eric Evans of Hanover, IN; by her grandchildren, Natalie and Athena; her sisters, Belinda McWilliams and Edith Milam; and her sisters-in-law, Donna Short and Carol Cordell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Dr. Robert C. Evans, who passed in 2015; and her siblings, Shirley Medwid, Greta Snyder, and Milferd Cordell. Brenda will be buried at the Hanover Cemetery beside her husband, Bob in a private service.
The public memorial service will be at 11 AM on Friday, at Hanover Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow at the church.
