Bonnie Ruth Rone 83, of Sellersburg, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.
Bonnie was born on August 22, 1941, in New Albany, IN the daughter of Joseph and Mable Kimes Atwood. She worked in her early years at the former Mariott Hotel in the banquet department in Clarksville, IN, the former Spring Hill School as an aide in Jeffersonville, IN, and finished her working career with the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, IN. Bonnie was an active member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, IN. She participated in Eastern Heights Baptist Church quilter’s, GA, Sisters in Christ, and volunteered in the Church Nursery. Bonnie enjoyed working in her flower beds, an avid quilter, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother.
Bonnie is survived by her sons, Greg Rone and his wife Mary of Charlestown, IN, and Curtis Rone and his wife Teresa of Borden, IN; brother, Fred Atwood and his wife Monica of Elizabeth, IN; grandchildren, Phillip Rone, Melissa Rone, and Jessica Snyder; great-grandchildren, Colten Snyder, Austin Snyder, Weston Rone, Hazel Rone, and Shiv Rone. She was preceded by her parents, husband of 54 years McGlenon Fonzo Rone in 2012, sisters Dorothy Pearson, and Olive Archibald; and brother Jesse Atwood.
Life Celebration Services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN with burial in Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 and after 9:00 A.M. on Monday until the time of service at Grayson Funeral Home. Expressions of Sympathy in Memory of Bonnie may take the form of donations to the Eastern Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
