Betty J. Brown, 86 of Madison passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Hickory Creek at Madison.
Mrs. Brown was born on March 26, 1929 in Ripley County, IN the daughter of Benjamin H. and Lillian Thornton Sedam. Betty worked at the former Jackson’s Restaurant in Madison, Madison Country Club and Hanover College as cook and baker. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church and is remembered as a great baker and enjoyed playing rook, euchre, watching college basketball and spending time with family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Alexander and her husband Wayne of Milton, KY; sons, Dean Brown of North Vernon, IN and Ron Brown and his wife Christy of Madison; grandchildren, Tom, Mike, Melanie, Jake, Lori and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Nikki, Katelyn, Nicholas, William, McKenzie, Molly, Dakota, Bailee, Reagan, Courtney, Emilee and Ryker; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norval R. Brown; son, Donald Wayne Brown; sisters, Emma Cutter Prebble, Mary Waltz and Virginia Schwanholt; brothers, Ernest, Wilbur, Gilbert, Larry and Leslie Sedam.
Funeral services will be held at the Cross Plains Church of Christ on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with burial in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held also on Monday at the church beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Brown may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association.
