Bessie M. (Summers) Combs

Bessie Combs, 86 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at New Albany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Albany, IN.

Bessie was born on February 8, 1934 in Hazard, KY the Daughter of Jasper and Sarah Elizabeth Combs Summers.

Bessie worked for several years at Faucet Printing in Louisville, KY. She enjoyed many things during her life including quilting, crocheting, gardening, was a wonderful cook and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Vanessa Combs and Sarah Leonard both of Charlestown, IN; sons, Tracy Combs and his wife Sheila and Garland Combs both of Charlestown, IN; sisters, Maude Campbell and Shirley Campbell both of Mooresville, IN; brother, Jasper Summers of Mooresville, IN; grandchildren, Khirsty, Shang, Lesley, John, David, Katie and Devin; great-grandchildren; David, Austin, Ceara, Cameron, Harper, Samson, Noah and Coleen; great-great-grandchildren; Karson and Colton.   Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Theresa Ann Combs; brother, McKinley Summers; grandchild, Stacy; great-grandchildren, Alec and Elijah.

Life Celebration Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Old Salem Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Monday.
