Mr. Wessel was born on Feb. 7, 1929 in Lexington, KY and passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Wessel was a former dairy farmer and a retired employee of Kitchen Kompact in Jeffersonville. He is a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and is a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Wessel was preceded in death by a daughter Rosemary Cantwell and a granddaughter Jennifer Rider.
He is survived by his wife the former Flora Schafer, daughters; Diane Cognata (Charles) of Sellersburg, IN, Malia Edmonds (Mike) of Charlestown and Paula Andersen (Richard) of Louisville, KY, son; Timothy Wessel of Louisville, KY, grandchildren; Stacy Jackson (Chris), Kelly Cantwell and Chris Rider (Heela) and a future great grandson due in September.
