Barbara (Bowen) Stidham

Barbara Bowen Stidham, a child of God, was born into this low ground of sorrow to the family of the late Andy Bowen and Ida Sargent Bowen on May 2, 1941, and went Home January 13, 2021 making her stay upon this earth 79 years, 7 months and 11 days. Barbara was born in Colson, KY, and attended Colson Elementary School.  After graduation, she attended Whitesburg High School in Whitesburg, Ky. She also attended Lees Jr. College at Jackson, Ky.  Barbara taught school several years in Letcher, Co. Ky. The bond between her and her future husband only grew stronger until Oct. 15, 1960,  when the bond between her and husband of sixty one years, was solemnized with both repeating these hallowed words, "I DO".  After marriage both attended Eastern Kentucky State College in Richmond, Ky. Barbara and Darrell were blessed by the good Lord to have two wonderful children, one son, Kelvin Lee Stidham (Tina) and one daughter Scarlett Cheryl Stidham Lori (Glenn); six grandchildren, Jacob Lee Stidham (Emma), and Andy Stidham, both Kelvin and Tina sons; Kyle Lori (Tabitha), Madalyn Lori Joplin (Dean), Grace Lori and Anna Lori, whom Glenn and Scarlet blessed her with; two great grandchildren, Kyle and Tabitha Lori's daughter, Cecily Lori and Jacob and Emma Stidham's son, Mr. Wyatt Stidham. Barbara was saved by the Grace of God and baptized, joining the Charlestown Old Regular Baptist Church, on March 28, 1999.  Later, she became a member of the Chester Hogg Old Regular Baptist Church along with her husband. She is sadly missed by the family that loved her so much and the many friends and loved ones; especially her Brothers and Sisters in the church. Funeral services for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the chapel of Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown at 11:00 am.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and again on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until the funeral hour. The family would like to send a special heart felt thank you to Dr. John Crase, Crystal White and Kristy Vanover.  Thanks to Kelvin, Tina and Scarlett for their tender, loving and compassionate care shown to mom.
