Barbara Ann "Bobbie" (Grote) Brooks

Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Brooks, 89, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Tuesday January 17, 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on September 27, 1933 in Louisville to Sylvester and Mary Catherine Hayes Grote.  She was a member of the United States Navy Reserves, a member of First Baptist Church in Charlestown, the Red Hat Society and was a retired medical assistant.  She enjoyed her church activities, eating at Cracker Barrell and Kingfish, going “camping” with the girls, traveling on Tobey Tours and watching Little House on the Prairie.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Brooks, daughter, Kimberly Brooks, siblings, Michael Grote, Joyce Mooreland, Vickie Hoover and Janet Bayens.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Amy Baird and her husband Matt, Jerry Brooks and his wife Carmen and Jeffrey Brooks and his wife Elizabeth all of Charlestown; brother, Dave Grote of Florida, sisters, Shirley Schuetz of Florida, Marilyn Dunn of Ohio, Jackie Peay of Pennsylvania, Mary Jane Fletcher of Charlestown and Patty Hartman of Kentucky; grandchildren, Sara Whitmer, Zac Brooks, Brett Brooks, Megan Brooks, Kayla Swinney, Morgan Baird and Patrick Baird; great grandchildren, Jacie, Braxden, Walker, Jaxen, Miley, Kendall, Connor and Brooks.

Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 22, and after 9:00 am on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, donations to The Gideons International would be appreciated, www.gideons.org
