Arthur Sherman Palmer, Jr., 76 of Jeffersonville, IN went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 20, 2025.
Arthur was born on October 15, 1948, in Washington County, IN to Arthur and Mable Palmer. He was the 12th of 14 children.
Arthur was drafted and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he met and married his wife, Gia Palmer. Arthur worked as a forklift operator for the PepsiCo plant in Louisville, KY, and retired after 39 years. Arthur had a lifelong love of cars and enjoyed buying and restoring old cars and trucks. He shared his love with his friends, children, and grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his family and would do anything he could to help a stranger in need. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Jeffersonville IN.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Gia Palmer; children Sloan (Mark) of Louisville, KY, Kimberly (Chris) Abernathy of Louisville KY, Clinton (BobbiJo) of Lexington, IN, and Bich Lien (Lee) Truong of Louisville, KY; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ward, Richard, Grace, and Margaret along with several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased in death by his parents, daughter, Margie Cochran, and several siblings.
Life Celebration Services will be held at Grayson’s Funeral Home in Charlestown IN on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday until 1:00 P.M.
The family wishes to thank Arthur’s doctors and caregivers at The VA Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the Palmer family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
