Mrs. Alma Louise Phillips Hartung of Midland City passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday until time of service.

Mrs. Hartung was born September 2, 1938 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to the late Joshua Phillips and Susie McCollum Phillips Hutchins. Alma studied at Cambellsville College from 1957 thru 1959 to be a teacher. She taught third grade until she was blessed with her first child and decided to stay home and be wife and mother. Thru the years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Charlestown, Indiana. Mrs. Hartung was a loving wife, mother, grandmother sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, her husband, James Hartung; son, Jimmie; brother, Carlson; twin brothers and one sister all preceded her in death.

Survivors include five daughters: Carolyn Hartung Snider (Mark), Jeffersonville, Indiana, Sandra Hartung Gerrell (Kenny), Wilmington, North Carolina, Kathy Hartung Greiner (Russell), Dothan, Karen Hartung Crow, Lexington, Tennessee and Anita Hartung Walker (Freddie), San Clemente, California; one sister, Brenda Guardiola, Texas and three brothers: Alvin Phillips (Kathy), Kentucky, Clay Phillips (Betty), Kentucky and Ervin Dee Phillips (Rosemary), Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
