Allen Ray Christie, SR. age 74 of Floyds Knobs, IN passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Christie was born October 28, 1939 in Hope, IN the son of John Herbert and Nettie Douglas Christie. He retired after a career of 34 years with the Pillsbury Co. in New Albany. Allen was a United States Army Veteran serving with the 101st Airborne, a member of the Living Waters Church in Charlestown, an avid Indiana University Basketball fan, enjoyed Country Music and formerly preformed with his band as a guitarist.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Bruner Christie; daughters, Malinda Askren(Brad) of Jeffersonville, Dixie Kern and Pixie Burkhead(Homer) both of Floyds Knobs, Lorrie Hughes(Wyatt) of Paris, IL; son Allen Ray Christie, JR(Carrie) of Mt. Eden, KY; sisters, Evelyn Spoonamore(Thomas) of Westport, IN and Anita Redicker(Steve) of North Vernon, IN; brothers, Fred Christie(Joyce) of Buchanan, VA and John Christie, JR of Daytona, FL; 13 grandchildren, Tammy, Chris, Yvonne, Tomi Lee, Johnny, Brittany, Devon, Weston, Whitney, Trey, Jordan, Kellie and Raegan; 16 great-grandchildren, Cain, Callie, Chase, Destiny, Trenton, Lauren, Makayla, Gabe, Tyler, Makenna, Nyla, Chazz, Chloee, Ashtin, Collin and Maddox. Mr. Christie was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Daniel Sizemore; twin sister, Allene; brothers, Robert, Ed and Gene.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 Noon to 6:00 P.M.  and on Monday after 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Christie may take the form of donations to the Living Waters Church in Charlestown.
