Adele (Parks) Combs

Adele Combs 97 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Sunday September 26, 2021, at her home.

She was born on October 23, 1923, in Perry County, KY to John L. and Virgie Smith Parks.  Mrs. Combs had worked throughout her lifetime in the sewing room for I.C.I. of America and was a “Rosie the Riverter”, during World War II where she worked on airplanes and PT Boats.  She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Charlestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Combs; son, Danny Combs; daughter, Peggy Combs and son-in-law, Charles Jones.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jones of Charlestown; sons, Jim Combs and his partner Debbie of Charlestown and John Combs and his wife Kathy of Charlestown; grandchildren, Jamie Jones (Shelly), Jennifer Horton (Larry), Joe Combs, Jeremy Combs (Tonyia) Sandy Doherty (Jason), Jordan Combs (Ally), Amy Combs and Emily Combs; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Life Celebration Services will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday September 30, 2021 at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Thursday.
