Mildred Louise Boyd-Harris was born December 20,1925 to John and Lillie Boyd in
Charlestown, IN. She entered the gates of heaven on February 17th, 2018.
She attended Carver Hill Elementary and Scribner High School. Mildred was a member of
Second Baptist Church in Charlestown where she was part of the church choir and the usher
board. Mildred was also a 50 year member of the Jericho Lodge Chapter 7. She was employed
by the Greater Clark County Schools at Charlestown High School for 5 years and retired from
Indiana Army Ammunition Plant after thirty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roscoe Harris, her son, Oscar Boyd-
Harris, her step daughter Esther Harris-Lewis her two brothers, William Boyd (Martha d.) and
John “Jay” Boyd, her two sisters Florence Clark (Tom d.) and Geneva Burress (John d.), and a
dear cousin and friend, Gretchen (Dutch) Wilson. She is survived by her sister Betty Boyd-Buckner (Claude “Smokey” d.), a step-grandson, Tony
Lewis, who resides with her, a granddaughter, three great granddaughters, two great grandsons and one great great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 4pm to 8pm, and after 10am on Saturday.
