James "Jim" Allen Burke

James “Jim” Allen Burke Sr., 80 of Charlestown, In. passed away on Monday February 25, 2019 at his home.

Jim was born on February 7, 1939 in Madison, IN the son of William Carl and Helen Louise Henry Burke. He retired as Vice President of Operations after several years with Rapid Industries in Louisville, KY. He was an avid Indiana University Basketball Fan, enjoyed playing cards, fishing, was a doting Pappaw and was an accomplished musician playing the guitar and singing.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sheets Burke; mother, Helen Burke of Charlestown; daughter, Angie Burke of Charlestown; sons, James “Jay” Burke Jr. of Charlestown, Rick Burke and his wife Jan of Memphis, IN, Jack Thomas Burke of Long Island, NY, Rob Burke of Charlestown and Scott Burke and his wife Mindy of Charlestown; grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Olivia, Alicia, Emily, Garrett, Kylan,  Sunni, Cash and Levi; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Jesse, Trenton, Lila, Selena, Jose, Lupita, Roman, Sutton, Graycen and Sophia. James was preceded in death by his father William Carl Burke and brother, Richard “Dick” Burke.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be made to the donors favorite charity.
