John Smith Obituary

John Thomas Smith, 88 of Otisco, IN passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at his home.

John was born on August 27,1931 in Jasper, IN, the son of Walter and Mary Miller Smith.  He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. In 1954, John started working at General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville, KY where he worked for 37 years until retiring in 1991.  In 1956, John met and married the love of his life, Marilyn, with whom he spent 56 wonderful years until her passing in 2012. He always enjoyed spending his time working on the family farm and raising a family. Later in life, he loved watching TV, mowing his lawn, and spending time with his dog, Max, and his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Joyce Smith, and brothers David, Kenny and Donnie. Survivors include his daughter, Diann Smith of Otisco, IN; son, Larry Smith (Kevin Elshoff) of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter, Leslie Seymour and her husband Adam of Jeffersonville, IN; and grandson, Sean Smith of Jeffersonville, IN.

Memorial service will be held at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1PM, with a memorial visitation beginning at 11am.
