Van Frederick “Freddie” Halcomb, 59, passed away Tuesday at his home.
He was born on August 13, 1952 to Venters and Alene (Frazier) Halcomb in Hazard, KY.
He was a Navy Veteran, and a former machinist at MKM in Jeffersonville. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his companion, Marietta Bowman of Charlestown, IN; sister, Susie Bowman (Terry) of Marysville, IN; nephew, Jess Hamner (Jessica) of Charlestown, IN, niece, Jillian Hamner of Louisville, KY; great-niece Olivia Hamner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm, and after 11am on Friday. Military services to be provided by the American Legion Post 335 and the VFW Post 1427.

Susie, I am so sorry to hear of Freddie''s death, especially after losing both your Mom and Dad this year. I know how hard it has been losing my Dad and I just can''t express how sad I am for you and your lose.

Susie and family, I am so sorry to hear of Freddie's passing. You know we were unseparable childhood companions. God be with you during this time of sorrow and give you peace, especially after losing your Mom and Dad.

Susie, Jill, Jess, Mary....it breaks my heart, Venters, Alene and now Freddie. I wish I could be there with you all, and I want you to know that you are in my prayers. May all your wonderful memories bring you comfort. I will miss them. Love you all.
