Robert “Bob” Lyndon Bowen, 92, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at his home.
He was born on May 1, 1925 to John H. and Philia (Schmid) Bowen in Louisville, KY. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a retired chemist from Louisville Cement, a member of the First United Methodist Church and he was past master of the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge #226 where he belonged for more than 50 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years Lorraine Bowen; brother, Jim Bowen, and infant brother, John Bowen and granddaughter, Emily Anne McDaniel.
Survivors include his daughters, Marilyn McDaniel (Tim) of Charlestown, IN, and Carol Combs (Vic) of Lancaster, TX; son, Peter L. Bowen (Sharon) of Charlestown, IN; brother, John P. Bowen (Jeanie) of Charlestown, IN; sisters, Marjorie Piper of Tampa, FL, and Mary Crismore (John) of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Matt Combs (Mandi), Martha Smith (Jeremiah), Zach McDaniel (Stephanie), Jacob McDaniel (Mary), Molly Wassom (Ike), Ben McDaniel, Lori Blaydes (Joey), Emily Oliver Jones (Brian) Ethan Bowen and Dalton Bowen and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday November 11, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be at Grayson Funeral Home from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday and after 9 am on Saturday at the church.
Masonic services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at the church. Military services with be held at the cemetery.
